COMPETENCIES OF THE FUTURE AS A DIRECTION OF STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT OF HUMAN CAPITAL OF THE ENTERPRISE
Abstract
This article investigates the strategic role of future competencies in human capital development within enterprises facing digital transformation and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The research addresses contemporary challenges confronting modern organizations due to rapid technological changes, globalization, and Industry 4.0 development, necessitating fundamental reconsideration of human capital management approaches. The study reveals a growing gap between short-term business needs and long-term requirements for developing new competency types. The research identifies 10 critical competencies expected to gain highest importance during 2025-2030, with artificial intelligence and big data leading employer demand growth expectations. The analysis demonstrates a significant shift toward integrating technical skills with cognitive and socio-emotional competencies, including creative thinking, continuous learning capacity, resilience, flexibility, and adaptability. Special attention is devoted to leadership skills, analytical thinking, and environmental protection competencies. The article presents a 4-level competency model structured as a pyramid, with existential skills forming the foundation – universal abilities including consciousness, willpower, and self-learning capacity. Higher levels encompass meta-skills for complex problem-solving, cross-contextual skills applicable across domains, and contextual professional skills at the apex. The model illustrates the transformation of digital skills from narrow technical abilities to integrated personal competencies essential for professional and daily life. Based on analysis of reports from leading organizations, the research substantiates the necessity for systematic and structured approaches to implementing future competencies through a comprehensive and thoughtful revision of recruitment processes, performance evaluation systems, and training programs, with particular emphasis on the growing need for a corporate culture that consistently supports and encourages continuous learning in order to ensure a stable and sustainable competitive advantage over time.
