THE IMPACT OF DIGITAL PLATFORMS ON THE DYNAMICS OF THE MOBILE SOFTWARE MARKET: GLOBAL AND REGIONAL DIMENSIONS
Abstract
The development of mobile technologies has significantly transformed the digital ecosystem, leading to the rapid growth of the mobile software market. This article is dedicated to analyzing trends in the development of mobile applications and mobile games on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store platforms. The study systematizes the Mayn categories of mobile software, allowing for the identification of key directions in its evolution. Analyzing data from 2010 to 2024, the research identifies dominant types of mobile applications and games, as well as changes in their market share. In the early years of the mobile software market, mobile applications were dominant. However, in later years, there has been a significant increase in the share of mobile games. The study also examines the time delays between the release of mobile software on different platforms. On average, mobile applications appear earlier in the iPhone App Store than in the Google Play Store, but in recent years, this gap has been decreasing. Such synchronization is explained by advancements in cross-platform development, which facilitate the simultaneous release of software for both Android and iOS. The research also explores the geographical distribution of mobile software by developer countries and analyzes the structure of software availability across different platforms. It has been found that North American and European countries primarily focus on creating mobile applications, while East Asian countries specialize in mobile game development. Additionally, it is noted that mobile software popular in different countries often has multiple versions adapted to the specifics of both international and local markets. Thus, the research findings provide insights into the evolution of mobile software, changes in its structure, and its distribution on a global scale. The obtained data can be used to forecast further trends in mobile software development and to develop strategies for promoting digital products in international markets.
